History of the estate
We found a Pierre DESPAGNE that was a beef farmer in 1699 in St. Sulpice de Faleyrens, 10 kilometres away from the current property…
Alain DESPAGNE settled here in 1964 on six acres and half, three of which were in very poor conditions. Major works of renovation and replanting in the vineyard were then undertaken. In 1972, Alain bought 6 hectares of vines in Montagne and it was in 1986 that his son Franck DESPAGNE joined the operations. Thus a new story with new perspectives began…
Franck rented 6 acres of top Bordeaux (Chateau Bellevue Lapourcaud), and in 1988, 5 hectares of vines in Lussac Saint-Emilion (Chateau Jamard Belcour). In 1992, Alain and Franck created the SCEV DESPAGNE & SON. In 1999 they acquired 6 acres from the Chateau Bellevue Lapourcaud. The 2000s will mark the opening of the export markets followed by the purchase of some parcels to reach the current total area of 25 hectares.
